Harvey is available to teach, and we’re making this unique and educational one-day workshop available again: Monochromatic Portraiture or painting a portrait with only one colour – in oil!
Many painters shy away from portraiture, while others want to build their skills and gain more confidence. This workshop is a great opportunity to do both! We often look at faces without truly seeing the values, shapes, and contrasts that bring them to life. Harvey will help you learn to see beyond the features and focus on the values that make a portrait work.
And there’s an added bonus! Harvey will share eight different techniques to add to your artistic toolbox — techniques you can apply to virtually any future art project, not just portraiture.

About the Artist/Instructor:
Harvey Walker paints in oils, both in the studio and en-plein air in all seasons, with the goal of capturing the spirit of the land, while enveloped in it. Often the on-site paintings can stand alone, but they can also be used as inspiration for larger studio works.
When he isn’t painting road or riverside, he can be found sharing his love for painting by encouraging others at his studio two days a week or facilitating en plein air workshops. He participates in the Haliburton Highlands Studio tour. He is proud to be an ambassador and promoter of recreational painting.
