I Made Not ONE but TWO Sketchbooks!

ONE FULL DAY SESSION
Saturday, September 19th / 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

Learning Outcomes:

-Learn about paper engineering, creating a new product out of existing materials.

-Customize and create two unique sketchbooks!

Description of Sketchbook Construction:

Imagine using up art paper in a new and creative way!  Wouldn’t it be fun to make a sketchbook from scratch, using two different binding techniques?  Originally offered as a workshop, we decided it would be more fun to offer this as a Makers Corner, a more informal gathering of creatives, at a totally reasonable cost!  Create a sketchbook that opens flat, with four signatures and has a sewn binding using the Coptic stitch method AND learn to bind a sketchbook that opens flat with a glued binding.  

Chari-Lynn is always so generous with her time and talent, and really wants to bring about 10-15 people together to show us how it’s done!  Bring your lunch.  A materials kit will be available for an additional small fee ($5 or $15 dollars depending on what you need).  Let’s have some creative fun together.  We’re hoping to offer “Makers Corners” monthly or bi-monthly for the remainder of the year – to offer reasonably priced opportunities to learn and create!

Material kits can be purchased from Chari-Lynn directly at class. See materials list for more details of what to bring, or buy a kit from Chari-Lynn (details follow).

Additional event information:

Optional: There will be a small and large kit available from the instructor for a nominal fee. See following details:

Kit 1: Small fee for instructor provided materials of $5.00 for binding fabric, thread, 12 x 12 scrap book paper and two sheets mixed media paper.

Kit 2: Also available for $15.00 is a kit with binding fabric, thread, 2 watercolour pads (student grade), 12 x 12 scrapbook paper, two sheets mixed media paper and curved needle.
