Oct 1st – Oct 24th, 2026
Multidisciplinary Artist | Graphic & Textile Designer | Painter | Educator
Ziba Salehi-Rahni is a Toronto-based multidisciplinary visual artist, designer, and educator
whose practice bridges fine art, design, textiles, and visual communication. With more
than three decades of professional experience spanning artistic research, higher
education, exhibitions, and creative practice in Iran and Canada, she brings a
sophisticated combination of technical expertise, conceptual depth, and cross-
disciplinary exploration to her work.
Her artistic practice encompasses painting, graphic and textile design, weaving,
illustration, typography, photography, and package design, reflecting a broad and
continually evolving engagement with visual culture. Drawing on both traditional
knowledge and contemporary approaches, Ziba creates work that explores the relationship
between form, colour, texture, symbolism, and human experience. Her diverse background
enables her to move fluidly between fine art and applied design while maintaining a
distinctive visual language.
Ziba holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Communication and Design and a Master’s
Degree in Fine Arts in Visual Communication and Graphic Design from Tarbiat- Modares
University in Iran. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Education, with a focus on teaching
at the university level. Her academic background in visual communication, fine arts,
design, and education has shaped an interdisciplinary practice grounded equally in artistic
inquiry, technical precision, and knowledge-sharing.
At the heart of Ziba’s creative vision is an exploration of the intersection of science, nature,
art, and the human experience. She is particularly interested in the dialogue between the
tangible and intangible—the visible world and the meanings, emotions, memories, and
ideas that exist beneath its surface. Transformation, connection, diversity, and the passage
of time frequently inform her artistic thinking. Her philosophy, “Diversity and inclusion start
with ourselves,” reflects her commitment to using art to foster understanding, dialogue,
and connection.
Alongside her studio practice, Ziba has built an extensive career as an educator in higher
education and school-board settings in both Iran and Ontario. She has taught visual arts,
design, and creative techniques to diverse learners and continues to share her expertise
through her private Graphic Design and Painting Art Studio, @zibasalehirahni. Her
studio oNers professional private art instruction, portfolio preparation for students
pursuing university and applied-arts programs, specialized technique development,
workshops, and customized painting projects. Her teaching approach combines
individualized mentorship with strong foundations in artistic process, design principles,
and creative problem-solving.
Ziba’s professional career includes numerous exhibitions, artistic projects, and
recognitions in Iran and internationally. Her work has been presented in diverse exhibition
settings and reflects her continuing commitment to developing a meaningful contemporary
practice while remaining connected to cultural heritage and traditional visual knowledge.
She is an active member of several professional and arts organizations, including the Iran
Graphics Association, International Freelance Photographers Organization (IFPO),
Women’s Art Association of Canada, Carun Art Gallery BC, YRPCC, RHPC Choir, and
Barrie Art Club.
Through her art, design practice, and teaching, Ziba Salehi-Rahni brings together technical
mastery, cultural knowledge, experimentation, and human connection. Her
multidisciplinary perspective allows her to approach each project with both the precision
of a designer and the sensitivity of a fine artist. Whether developing an original painting,
exploring textile traditions, mentoring emerging artists, or creating a collaborative learning
experience, she remains committed to expanding the possibilities of visual expression and
creating work that is visually compelling, conceptually thoughtful, and emotionally
resonant.
