This exhibition is a collection of paintings inspired by the waters that shape Canada’s vast and varied landscape. From the inland seas of Ontario’s Great Lakes to the rugged Pacific coast of British Columbia and the windswept shores of Newfoundland, these works celebrate the beauty, power, and spirit of the waterways that connect a nation.

Water is both the pulse and the thread of Canada. It carves shorelines, reflects the changing sky, and carries the stories of generations who have lived beside it. In these paintings, I seek to capture not only the physical character of each place, the movement of waves, the play of light, and the shifting colours of the seasons, but also the emotional resonance that water evokes: wonder, solitude, memory, and renewal. Born from moments of quiet observation, these works explore the shimmer of sunlight on a northern lake, the deep blues of distant horizons, and the rhythmic conversation between sea and shore.

Through expressive colour and atmosphere, these landscapes move beyond geography and into the realm of experience. Each painting is both a waterscape and a meditation on connection, between land and sky, past and present, and ourselves and the natural world. Though separated by thousands of kilometres, the waters of Canada share a common language of tides, currents, reflections, and change. Between Two Oceans invites viewers to pause, to listen, and to journey across the country through its waters, honouring one of Canada’s most enduring and unifying forces.
